New Edition Cincinnati concert review

New Edition Deliver a Full Experience, Not Just a Throwback

When New Edition hit the stage at Heritage Bank Center, they made an entrance.

Rising up on a massive platform, the silhouettes of the group lined up across the stage, it was immediately clear — this wasn’t just going to be a nostalgia show.

This was the classic lineup.

And that matters, because each member is a star on their own. But when they come together, it turns into something bigger than just a group performance.

Going in, it was easy to expect something more throwback, something built mostly on nostalgia.

But they quickly proved that wasn’t the case.

The energy was high, the vocals were still there, and the performance felt just as relevant now as it ever did.

One of the coolest parts of the night was how the show expanded beyond just New Edition songs.

You got those breakout moments.

Seeing Bobby Brown step out and perform Don’t Be Cruel was a highlight, and he kept it fun too, joking with the crowd, “You wanna see Bobby Brown dance? …Google me.”

Then you had the Bell Biv DeVoe segment, which added another layer to the show and kept the momentum going.

Johnny Gill had his moment.

Ralph Tresvant had his moment.

At a certain point, it really hit — this wasn’t just one act.

It was multiple eras of R&B coming together on one stage.

Boyz II Men Still Have It

Boys II Men Live in Cincinnati, OH 3/26/2026

If I’m being honest, Boyz II Men might have been the act I was most excited to see.

I can still remember buying Cooleyhighharmony on cassette back in the day, so there was definitely a little bit of a full-circle moment walking into this one.

Now down to three members, the group still sounds incredible.

That was the biggest takeaway.

Sometimes, when you see artists years later, it can feel like you’re watching something that’s past its prime.

That was not the case here.

They still have it.

The harmonies were smooth, the vocals were strong, and it all felt natural — not forced.

When they hit “Motownphilly,” that was one of those moments where you couldn’t help but move a little, even while trying to focus on taking photos.

And they didn’t just stick to their own set either.

Seeing them come back out and back Toni Braxton later in the show was one of the more unique moments of the night and added something extra to the whole experience.

This wasn’t just a quick nostalgia set.

This felt like a group that can still go out and deliver at a high level.

Toni Braxton Brings Power and Perspective

Toni Braxton Live on Stage with New Edition in Cincinnati, OH

Toni Braxton brought a different kind of energy to the night.

Her performance had more of an emotional weight to it, especially as she spoke to the crowd about some of the challenges she’s faced — including her battle with lupus and the loss of her sister.

She even mentioned not knowing if she’d be able to tour again, which made her being on that stage feel even more meaningful.

And vocally, she still sounded incredible.

Songs like Breathe Again and “Un-Break My Heart” hit exactly the way you’d want them to.

There was also something really special about seeing Boyz II Men come out and support her during her set. It created one of those moments that felt bigger than just a concert — more like a celebration of the music and the artists themselves.

A Night That Never Slowed Down

One of the most impressive things about the show as a whole was how smoothly everything flowed.

There were no long breaks, no downtime.

As one act wrapped up, they’d drop below the stage, and the next act would rise up. It kept the energy going all night and made sure there was never a dull moment.

The crowd fed off that.

You had a mix of longtime fans who grew up with this music, along with younger fans experiencing it live for the first time. And it all worked.

For me, it brought back a lot of memories — listening to Bobby Brown’s Don’t Be Cruel and Toni Braxton records back in the day.

That’s what made the night stand out.

It wasn’t just about looking back.

It was about realizing how well this music still holds up today.

Final Thoughts

This tour could have easily leaned into being a nostalgia act.

It didn’t.

New Edition, Boyz II Men, and Toni Braxton all proved they still have the talent, the presence, and the ability to put on a high-level show.

If anything, this was better than expected.

And if this tour comes anywhere near you, it’s absolutely worth checking out — whether you grew up with this music or you’re just discovering it now.
